We travel Business Class a lot as a matter of fact the last time we traveled Economy Class on long haul flight was back in 2009 on a return flight from Bangkok I wasn’t able to upgrade – other than that we flew with the SAS Premium Economy last year. Given that we sit on lang haul flight around 10-15 times per year, I like to believe that our opinion on the quality of individual business classes carries some weight. So here is our opinion of the Qatar Airways A330 Business Class.
If you not in the mood for reading about Qatar Airways Business Class – just go ahead and watch our vlogs from the trip:
Now with that being said – Qatar Airways has unarguably become my hands down favorite business class carrier. So far we have experienced 8 long haul flights with Qatar Airways 3 aboard their 787 Dreamliner, 1 aboard an A380, 2 aboard their new A330 Business Class and 2 aboard their 777 business class. In a month we will be traveling with them from Vienna to Bangkok.
I felt a slight tingle in pants when I saw the preview of the new Qatar Airways Business Class Q-Suites. This product in my opinion will truly make first class obsolete and with it I think they will have set a new industry standard as they did with their reverse herringbone configuration currently installed on their A350, A380 and 787 Fleet.
But lets get right into this review.
Qatar Airways A330 Business Class:
The Qatar Airways A330 Business Class if fairly new and features a full flat 6 across configuration. The look and feel is very modern. The cabin is rather large and feels slightly cramped when boarding the aircraft – but only on first sight.
The Qatar Airways A330 Business Class Seat has a large pitch (which is the space or legroom you have in front of you) I am 185cm/6ft. tall and have more than enough space. The width of the seats is a bit tight. this is due to the 6 across configuration. Not once during the flight did I feel the width turned out to be a problem, its just something that I noticed. The materials used where cozy and the seat controls where arranged logically.
In flight entertainment (IFE):
The Screen can be controlled via the remote or by touch (meaning its a touchscreen dah). The selection of movies was excellent – I found my self in a predicament not knowing what to watch because of the abundance of movies – which is always a good thing.
This is where Qatar Airways always shines. Personal, attentive, passion for detail and professionalism are just a few words that come to mind. I feel like the Qatar Airways flight crew receives special training in conversational skills. They have the ability to know just how personal they can get with their passengers without it feeling unprofessional.
We are foodies so food on airplanes naturally are always a hot topic for us. We never can get super excited about food on airplanes, its more a matter of – is it bad or is it ok. In comparison to other airlines Buisness Class meals the Qatar Airways Meal service is top notch. As a matter of fact I put it on the same level as I would put Austrian Airlines Food service – this might be because both serve Do&Co Meals on board.
The only airline I found to serve
better food a more interesting meal service is Jet Airways. Its not fancy or special – but they serve authentic Indian Curry and Curry is easy to handle and reheat without destroying taste or texture.
Amenity Kit was handed out in beautiful bags – then content was nothing amazing but it did contain nice moisture creams and the classics like eyeshades, ear plugs, socks and a toothbrush. the lavatories where well stalked and very clean (serviced by crew after every use).
The Qatar Business Class lounge in Doha is my second favorite lounge after the Turkish Airways Lounge in Istanbul. The partner lounges are a little bit hit and miss.
Never had a single delay, never missed a connection, never lost my luggage 10/10.
All in all I can say the Qatar Airways A330 Business Class is a great product. I will be flying on it soon on our trip to Bangkok but I must say I am extremely excited about the new Qatar Airways Business Class Q-Suite that will be introduced on the 777-300ER the only configuration currently flying with the old business class seats.
